A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

A Thousand splendid suns by Khaled Hosseini is a well known book. The story highlights the hardships of woman in Afghanistan. The story takes place between the years 1960-2005, drawing major references to the actual events that took place in Afghanistan during that timeline.

A thought provoking and mind blowing read only hardest of hearts can fail to move. A saga of two woman fighting against all odds, after having faced them, this shows us that behind every burqa there is a human being .

What's truly amazing about Hosseini's writing is the depiction of the war and its effects through these characters. The story describes the state of Afghanistan when soviets invaded the country, when Babrak Kamral formed a puppet government and how the Taliban took control of the country. It has both; the drama a reader needs, along with some truth to them .This is what truly makes it a page turner.

The book explores Laila and Mariam's relationship and their courage to stay strong in an unfair world.
It sends out a message that even when life seems unkind love and compassion can do miracles.

Biological diversity boon for humanity.

Biological diversity is often understood in terms of the wide variety of plants, animals and micro organisms, but it also includes genetic differences within each species for example, between varieties of crops and breeds of livestock.

Fish provide 20% of animal protein to about 3 billion people over 80% of the human diet is provided by plants, loss of biodiversity threatens everyone it has been proven that biodiversity loss could expand zoonoses - diseases transmitted from animals to humans while on the other hand, if we keep biodiversity intact, it offers excellent tools to fight against pandemics liked those caused by coronavirus.

Current negative trends in biodiversity and ecosystems will undermine progress towards 80% of the assessed targets of 8 Sustainable Development Goals, three- quarters of the land -based environment and about 66% of the marine environment have been significantly altered by human actions 1 million plant and animal species are now threatened with extinction.

The Global Report officially demonstrated the responsibility of human activities in the loss of biodiversity, which amounted to 75% for terrestrial ecosystems this assessment also indicated that solutions existed and that it was not too late to act. UNESCO's intersectoral strategy for biodiversity is based on 3 pillars: restore the relationship between humans and nature and regenerating ecosystems; conserve the harmony of our ecosystems; and amplify the power of youth .

Meanwhile, United Nations Environment Programme has launched the UN Decade's Ecosystem Restoration Playbook which has practical solutions on how we can restore our planet's fragile regions which are crucial in combating climate change, marine life is threatened by pollution , climate change, overexploitation, and overfishing we go to beaches and resorts frequently leave beer bottles and plastic wastes around the area. Coral reefs and seagrass can be sustainably managed and restored to provide livelihoods to the local population, citizens and towns face rapid urbanization such that buildings and highways do not have space to accommodate trees and vegetation.

Recreation parks such as Central Parks in New York City have restored bird habitat, Urban woodland, bee- friendly plants, and urban wet lands protect against flooding, pollution and waste management. Savannahs and grasslands, found on almost all the continents of the world, are at great loss the extinction of Bisons in prairies in North America is a reminder of deliberating ecosystems, these ecosystems are threatened by soil erosion, overgrazing, and invasion by invasive plant species pastoralists and indigenous communities can help with this management.

There are various awareness campaigns run throughout the year by activities making people aware regarding the importance of protection of wildlife many NGOs are giving their best to save wildlife in India and abroad.

As a human being it is our duty to protect these innocent species and our entire wildlife and biodiversity, saving this would be better for our future generations.

As it is rightly said "protecting your flora and fauna will help you in making a difference."

How to live without you?

And when I needed you the most, you left me.

You taught me how to survive alone but I don't know when, admist learning that, suddenly, I couldn't imagine surviving without you.

I hate you. I hate you so much, so much because I love you, so much.

I know what you always told me, all these bonds we make are in vain, they don't matter.

I always knew you lied. I always knew our bond always mattered to you.

And that made me angry. Why wouldn't you tell me that our bond is special? Why would you laugh it off when I told you how much you meant to me?

Whenever I hurt, I always found you beside me. And now when you aren't? Idk what to do anymore, Idk how to wash off that wound anymore.

The world is scary again.

In the process of teaching me not to get addicted, you became the drug I couldn't live without.

In the process of teaching me to draw my own painting, you became the color I couldn't draw without.

You got angry at me for despising them. Why? After all they were the ones who made us run against each other in a race where we promised to run together in.

They made us forget the melody to the song, we promised to join voices together in.

I don't know how but the line we drew to protect us from the rest of the world, somehow became the line of separation between us too.

I can't angry at you, you were the one that taught me not to. You were the one who taught me to let go.

I did let you go.

Maybe hoping you'd return for me, deep inside I knew you wouldn't. But still who was I to stop you?

We've walked far away from that boundary of separation with new people by our side now.

Today, I'm scared again but there's no one to tell me to laugh it off. There's no one to tell me not to be scared. No one to hold me when I fall.

I hate, I hate, I HATE how I loved you so much. How I needed you so much.

How I thought about you so much. I hate you because I love you so much.
