This is the topic that I wanted to write for a very long period but I don’t know where to begin and how as tears fill my eyes. For me, my pets are my world without whom, my life would have been a usual one with no interesting stories to share.
Since 2022, I have been impacted highly by the loss of some of my pets one after another with no rest in between. There was no time to process one when I lost another one. Now, you must be wondering how many pets do I have at home, if I am correct.
Well, the answer is many.
The numbers aren’t a factor as much as the thing that I am about to write.
How can I lose so many pets? Did I neglect them?
No. Then, why?
Death can happen anytime, anywhere. It is something we cannot control or comprehend or pretend. If you try to hold your loved ones tight, you are bound to lose your grip. That is what happens when you see your loved ones suffering and you don’t know what to do except ease up their pain and comfort them. Each day is a war fought with tears, frustration, and agony inside you. You are helpless in love; you are helpless in hope and faith as you go to every temple waiting for their recovery than your wellbeing. Ultimately, they die just like anyone else leaving their stiff cold bodies or wiggly bodies on this planet to bury or cremate them. Once, twice, or thrice is fine but imagine going through this same cycle of pain over and over again. What would you have done? Breaking down in tears is the easiest option. What about those who fall silent? They don’t cry. They remain engrossed in daily life, trying to fight the burning pyre who has become a permanent resident in their soul. How do you put down this fire? How do you stop a soul from aching?
The world will talk shit about you. In case of humans, you may receive some amount of sympathy or hear some of their own stories with the tragedy of losing their loved ones. However, in case of your beloved pets, no one, absolutely, no one does so. If you tell your story, you are bound to hear sentences like, “It’s only a pet, now think about us, we lose our loved ones. Remember the aunty who years ago lost her only son in a road accident.”
“You should be relieved now. You can do whatever you want to do without the constant worry of what your pet is doing at home.”
“Thank God, now you will be free of that obnoxious smell and fur on your clothes.”
You will also find people who will laugh right on your face when you share your story of losing your pets. No body, no one could comprehend the amount of internal chaos that goes on within you. Life is merciless, it goes on. People will stop checking on you after a few days. In the end, you are alone, all by yourself; sitting down with your emotions. What should you do now?
Face it. Your feelings are valid.
Nothing ends here.
If you are alive, you can do what is best for you.
In one word, Love with all your heart , do all you can do for the service of others. You will never be able to put down the fire in your soul but you can use your love as a fuel to help all those voiceless animals in need. Love takes an outstanding amount of courage and bravery when all you did is to get wounded in the battle of life. Open that door or that window so that the light can penetrate your soul.
